Scar Revision

Scar revision is a procedure in which a facial plastic surgeon minimizes the appearance of a scar, making it more closely resemble the tone and texture of the skin surrounding it. While it cannot completely erase a scar, the procedure can achieve a more aesthetically pleasing result.

Am I a good candidate?

If you have a facial scar that you would like minimized, this procedure may be right for you. Healthy individuals who neither smoke nor have irritated skin around the area in question are ideal candidates for scar revision surgery.

Surgical Process:
When you undergo scar revision, Dr. Beaty will determine if local or general anesthesia is needed for you. Different types and sizes of scars require different treatment. Scar revision may require surgery, topical treatments, injectable treatments, or surface treatments like dermabrasion and laser therapy.
Healing Process:
After scar revision surgery, a patient may encounter swelling, discomfort, or discoloration. This should subside within a couple of weeks. The scar will continue to fade over time.
