Eyelids

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure for aesthetic enhancement of the eyelid. The procedure is effective for both the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery may correct bags, loose skin, overhang, puffiness, and wrinkling. Rejuvenated eyes convey a sense of alertness and confidence, as they are often the first point of contact with others.

Upper Lids

Am I a good candidate?

Upper eyelid surgery eliminates excess folds of skin and restores a youthful contour to the eyelid. The appearance of excess skin causing lid overhang, loss of shape, drooping, and wrinkling are all indications for an upper eyelid blepharoplasty.

Surgical Process:
Dr. Beaty restores a youthful look by creating an incision within the natural crease of the upper eyelid, removing excess skin, and extracting or redistributing fat. Due to strategic incision placement, signs of surgery are nonexistent once healed.
Healing Process:
This procedure is minimally invasive and requires little recovery time. Sutures are removed after one week. Both swelling and bruising will fade in this time frame and makeup can usually be applied 10 days after surgery. You may resume normal activity after two weeks.
After Surgery Care:
Protect your healing eyes by wearing sunglasses whenever outside. We will prescribe eye drops/ointments to keep this area moist during recovery. Make sure you follow prescription regimens closely. With these steps, you will look uplifted in as little as ten days.

Lower Lids

Am I a good candidate?

Unfortunately, many symptoms of aging lower lids are caused purely by genetics. If you look fatigued due to eye bags, dark circles, puffiness, or sagging skin, a lower lid blepharoplasty may be exactly what you need. By repositioning fat and modifying supporting structures, lower eyelid surgery improves contours and tightens the skin.

Surgical Process:
Depending on your specific needs, Dr. Beaty may choose from several surgical approaches. If fat redistribution is the primary cause of your puffiness and hollows, Dr. Beaty may perform transconjunctival eyelid surgery from the inside of your lower lid. When excess skin and muscle atrophy are responsible, he will make an external incision immediately beneath your lower lashes. This mark will be unnoticeable once healed.
Healing Process:
Lower lid surgery is also minimally invasive and requires little recovery time. Sutures self-dissolve within a couple of weeks. Both swelling and bruising will fade in this time frame and makeup can usually be applied 10 days after surgery. You may resume normal activity after two weeks.
After Surgery Care:
Protect your healing eyes by wearing sunglasses whenever outside. Just like upper lid surgery, we will prescribe eye drops/ointments to keep this area moist during recovery. Make sure you follow prescription regimens closely.
