Browlift and forehead lift are
procedures performed to improve the appearance and at times
the function of the upper face and brow area. Many patients
complain of a tired or severe look in the brow area,
sometimes their friends ask them why they look angry all the
time. This is an example of patients who feel their outward
appearance does not reflect the inner person. Aesthetic
improvement of the brow and forehead may include
repositioning of the brows themselves, reduction of lines
and furrows between the brows and across the forehead, or
both. Brow and forehead improvement usually is evaluated in
conjunction with the eyelids as the two areas intimately
affect each other.
Browlift may be performed through
different approaches including coronal (traditional forehead
lift) and endoscopic (smaller incisions employing a surgical
telescope) techniques. During your consultation the approach
best suited to your needs will be discussed as well as
alternatives.
Frequently patients ask us to
explain the difference between an endoscopic browlift and a
traditional forehead lift. Along with the advantage of
smaller incisions hidden within the hairline, browlifts
performed endoscopically have a lower incidence of sensation
changes in the scalp and require less wound care.
A board certified facial plastic
surgeon will perform a thorough facial examination and
discuss with you during the consultation what combination of
procedures can help to produce the look you want. For
example, depending on the position of the brow, a patient
may need only a browlift, only upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty)
or a combination of both procedures. Comprehensive
evaluation of the face provides you the opportunity to
decide which of the available surgical options best fit your
needs. Some patients may not require facial plastic surgery
and are candidates for conservative measures, such as Botox
for fine lines and wrinkles or Juvederm for crows feet. Your
consultation at Milton Hall Plastic Surgery is designed to
educate Atlanta browlift patients about when the time is
right for their procedure.
Often Atlanta browlift patients ask
about improving superficial skin wrinkles. Browlift can
improve wrinkles and lines in the forehead, but will not
correct all the superficial lines that come from premature
aging, overexposure to weather and dynamic muscle motion.
Browlift patients may need to consider skin resurfacing
procedures to address textural wrinkles and imperfections.
